We arrived to the Delhi airport on Monday night. We stayed there until early morning watching the airport cleaners mopping the ceiling and floor from the random spots sometiimes also running with the mop. Indian man from Copenhagen told us to wait the taxi half an hour more, because it was cheaper then. The car was great, there was no seatbelts at the backseat, there was a stickers in the backmirrow and windscreen and there was no other mirrows. The driver told me that there is no reason for me to put a seatbelt...taxi's colour was green and yellow =) The traffic was CRAZY! The driver took us to Pahar Ganj. The chilly morning seemed to be full of magic! (I drank the best mango lassi ever! )
Our mission was to get from Delhi to Gorakhpur and to take buss from there to Kathmandu, but all the trains were full booked. The travel agent sold us a trip including our own driver called Sanjey, hotels, breakfasts, train tickets from Accra to Varanasi, pick up's from train station, and a buss tickets from Varanasi to Kathmandu. The first part of this trip was called the Golden Triangle, you can check it on the map and you know why.
I liked india very much ! Even when noise of the traffic was killing our ears and the attention from the local people was a bit too much for us sometimes, even if the taxi driver fell in love with me too much, even when a tire from the car in front of us was broke (we survived!) even when the tuktuk hit the cow's hip and ruined the drivers spirituality and caused pain for the cow and mental headache for us, even when there was no one to pick up from the train station, even when there was seven people and seven backpacks in a car, even when Tanja stepped to a muddy water, even when Tanja puked on her sleeping bag in the middle of the night and there wasn't any electricity to put the lights on, even when all of us had some problem with our stomaches and Laura had a short nightfever or even when someone cheated money from us the one week journey was unforgettable and lots of fun!
In Jaipur we took a full body oil massage with Tanja and Laura took foot massage which was too tickeling for her (i could hear everything from the room next to hers!). So she changed it to a head and shoulder massage which was crazy rough handed massage, toooo much for anyone i guess!
We get to see Taj Mahal in Accra, which was romantic and beautiful building and the garden was too. So many people wanted to take pictures with us, which was confusing and almost ruining the romantic feeling inside us.
We took a night train from Accra to Varanasi. The city was great! First we went to see Buddha tree, where Buddha gave his first lessons to the people. There was Hot! In the city we met a nice boy called Raji who showed us places we have to see for free and we became friends. We went to roofrestaurant to eat, from there we could saw Ganjes and the city near it. There were kids flying lots of kites on the roofs. The was an amazing sunset ofcourse too. Then we went to the Raji's uncle's tiny oil and spice cellar. Ok, this man knew everything about them. He was also a slooooow man. Chai for everyone, this takes some time! Laura could't concentrate well, because there was a cow outside smelling and watching her while she was trying parfymes and hurrying to see buccha ceremony. We bought some oil to say bye bye for mosquitos and Tanja and Laura bought a rose parfyyyym to say hello to all men (like they would need it!). After this we walked the dark labyrint like roads to the shore, where we took a boat and floated to see the burning funerals, that was held 24hday. I saw dead people for the first time in my life. I felt good, even if it might sound wrong. The hole ritual was peaceful and beautyful thing to watch from the boat. Raji told us everything about what are they doing.and now i understand more. I saw also a man taking a bath in the black river, but don't worry we didn't.
Next morning we left from the hotel to buss station with two swedish girl Cathrine and Kristin and we packed ourselves into a tine car with two drivers! Somehow without accidents we managed to get there. There was lots of tourists like us waiting the buss to Kathmandu. The buss was supposed to leave at 8.00am but it left at 11.30am. Perus. But this was a good time to juggle and know the people with who we were going to travel almost two days. They threw our backpacks to the buss roof, and we could start the journey.
I had a such a good feeling inside while the windows were open, the driver was playing indian pop music and the buss was full of happy faces and excitement. About 10 hours in a buss, this is great! The evening was like a scandinavian summer evening. Very nice. There was happy Oskar from Sweden and happy Nick from Germany chilling also with us. We arrived to the boarder of Nepal, and bought the visas. We pass the boarder and spent our first night in Nepal! We could hear the party was continnuing in India.
Next morning we backed our things and started the busstrip to Katmandu! It was supergood feeling! A minibuss full of people, Nepal groud, mountains, forests, rivers, beautiul views around, good friends and music. Oskar taught me to make makrame and i'm sure i want to make those with the children too in Horac. Finally we arrived to Kathmandu! The city seemed to be huge. I fell in love. Taxi took us to a guest house and we went to see the Thamel centre of the city. This is my city! We ate in a secret restaurant, that Oskar and his friend Michelle told us. Veg Khana (dhaal bhat thali plate) and 1.5 l mineral water bottle cost one euro. Sounds reasonable.
On Monday morning we ate our breakfast on a roofbalcony in Thamel and then we navigate our way to buss station, where we took a local buss to Lalitpur. Two local boys told us that we should have allready get out from the buss and we shouted "stooooop!" to the driver. We get out and found a man who helped us to find Horac. After few calls the President of the orphanage came to pick Laura with scooter and me and Tanja walked with the two oldest kids from the home. Our homestreet seemed to be very nice. One monkey climping on the electric cables and the little colorful flags over the streets were welcoming our way. Finally we were in Horac! The kids and stuff were in the yard welcoming us with smiles. We ate on the roof and under stars together with kids and all volunteers. There are sweet 32 kids here!
Almost all volunteers live in a other house about two hundred meters from Horac. We share one big pink room me, Tanja and Laura and we have a balcony, where you can see the street, houses and mountains. Perfect! but last night there was (i guess) a dog barking outside, so i didn't sleep very well. I saw a dream where a baby elefant was barking outside the house and digging holes to the ground.
Today we woke up at 7.00am and started our first workday! The kids are great! I have already played korona, helped with homeworks (me and maths!), cutted 20 little nails, crushed some spices with a stone, jumped a rope and soon we will go to check the playground. Today is a international womens day, and the girls have a holiday from the school here! Why not in Finland?! Happy day for all women!=)

Upeeta reissuu Annamuru! <3 -Mia
Nauttikaa!
